Part II Tile 19. Egypt or Syria. A square stone paste tile freely painted in underglaze blue and black. Four ogivals in white, each with a central onion motif, outlined in black, face inwards from each corner between each leaf of a central simple four-leafed design also in white and outlined in black. The remaining area completely filled with blue cross hatching and tight cloud/wave patterns. First half of the 15th century. 9 x 9 in. {22.9 x 22.9 cm.} c.f. Porter, V., Islamic Tiles, pub.
